Pack Horse Crayfish, White Island
The waters off White Island, an active volcano, attract hundreds of divers every year. Visibility of 20 metres or more is common, and there are huge numbers of fish in the area – Blue Mao Mao, Kingfish, Golden Snapper, Stingray and, the local specialty, giant Pack Horse Crayfish. Diving next to hot underwater volcanic vents is an unforgettable experience.
